You May Call Me M’Lord…

November 6, 2018

Logo_2So in my travels on the Interwebz, I came across the Twitter account for someone called “The DnD Grandma.” I loved the positivity displayed on the feed as well as the impetus behind it. You see, the feed is maintained by Vinnie Pontillo and allows us to follow the adventures of his mother (who’s in her 70s) as she plays in their home Dungeons & Dragons game, as well as the rest of his family. Which is AWESOME!

The page inspired me so much that I asked my family to play with me…and they said yes! So now I have a semi-regular game with my mom, stepdad, wife, and brother. It’s going great! They’ve really caught on to the roleplaying aspects and the fun of the game. I’m so pleased to have them come and enjoy something that is a big part of my life.

Vinnie started a Patreon to fund a ongoing podcast of his family’s adventures. I feel like I owe them for inspiring me to take the step to include my family in my nerdy hobby. So I contributed. In return, I got to have an NPC (non-player character) named after me. And now, in their family game, I’m Shedrick Pittman, Lord of Commerce. How awesome is that?!!

Anyway, be sure and check out their podcast and their Patreon. They are a great bunch of folks and represent the hobby in such a positive way. Get hooked like I did!
